Our Luton Depot Manager, Norman Cilliers has been supporting our local Bedfordshire community by attending two charity days on behalf of Bluebay. Here he shares the importance of ‘doing our bit’ and how he combined his love of golf with raising much needed funds for MacIntyre and Cardiomyopathy UK.
At Bluebay we’re always delighted to hear from our colleagues about how together, we can support causes in our local communities. The initiative forms part of our broader vision to encourage employees at all levels to recognise causes that are important to them and offer our support along the way.
Norman Cilliers, our Luton based Manager has been doing just that, lending his time and energy to two charity days in aid of MacIntyre and Cardiomyopathy UK respectively. Norman is particularly keen to support charities which are vital but often under the radar.
As he shares; “I think it’s brilliant that Bluebay are so keen to encourage us to connect with the community in this way. It’s a wonderful opportunity to invite clients and spend time with them in a different setting. Bluebay made incredibly kind donations financially and for the raffles which speaks volumes about the values of the business.”
The first golfing event was held in May and raised in excess of £70,000 for MacIntrye who offer learning, support and care for more than 1,400 children, young people and adults who have a learning disability and / or are autistic.
This was followed by The Captains charity day, held in July at Norman’s local Woburn Golf Club. The day has become a much-loved annual date on the local Bedfordshire calendar, and Bluebay were proud to be the main sponsor. The day raised £17,000 for the specialist national charity which provides support for people affected by cardiomyopathy, a condition that affects the heart muscle.
As Norman concludes; “It was a proud day for me personally to represent Bluebay at the club I love so much, and the cherry on the top was that our team won the competition!”
